Boustany Urges Caution and Safety as Tropical Storm Karen Approaches

Statement

Date: Oct. 3, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after the National Weather Service released the latest news on Tropical Storm Karen as it approaches the South Louisiana coastline:

"As Tropical Storm Karen approaches the Gulf Coast, it has the potential to become a hurricane before making landfall on Saturday. The National Weather Service issued a tropical storm watch from west of Grand Isle to east of Morgan City earlier today. This means tropical storm conditions may arrive in the area within 48 hours. I urge everyone to take the necessary precautions as inclement weather leads to higher tides along the coast which may lead to flooding. Please make a plan for your family to ensure nobody's safety is jeopardized. Also, please stay tuned to local media reports to track the latest updates on the storm."
