Statement on Republican Continuing Resolution and Attempt to Defund Obamacare

Statement

Date: Sept. 20, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement on the Continuing Resolution and defunding Obamacare:

"Today I voted against the House Republican Continuing Resolution which would cause damage to all Americans and our nation. This bill would maintain reckless funding levels that removed tens of thousands American children from early childhood education, eliminated millions of Meals on Wheels for seniors, and cost tens of thousands of jobs. Second, it's the 42nd attempt to repeal or defund Obamacare, which is the law of the land.

"It's hard to keep track of just how many votes Republicans will continue to hold to delay or defund Obamacare and the American people are tired of their useless efforts. Obamacare is the law and it's already helping millions of people. Republicans need to stop their obsession with trying to delay and defund Obamacare. It's time to get to work and pass a commonsense budget which eliminates the sequester, creates jobs and protects Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and most importantly helps people enroll in Obamacare."
