Rep. Young Votes for Legislation to Ensure Furloughed Employees Are Retroactively Paid

Location: Washington, DC

Alaskan Congressman Don Young today announced the passage of H.R. 3223, the Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act, legislation that would ensure that federal employees currently furloughed during the government shutdown would be retroactively compensated.

"I am relieved to see the House pass this bill that will give federal workers, who have been furloughed through no fault of their own, the reassurance that their pay will be restored in full once Congress and the President end this shutdown, said Rep. Young. "Quite simply it is the right thing to do and I call for swift passage by the Senate so it can be signed into law."

H.R. 3223, introduced by Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) and Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA), was unanimously passed by the House by a vote of 407 -- 0. Rep. Young is a cosponsor of the bill and voted in support of it this morning.
