Cotton Statement on Funding the National Institute of Health and National Parks and Museums

Statement

Date: Oct. 2, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) released the following statement after the House passed bills to fund the National Institute of Health and National Parks and Museums:

"On Monday, Senate Democrats decided that they would rather keep their special Obamacare exemption than keep the government open. They've spent the past two days complaining about the consequences of their rash, partisan actions. This evening, the House passed targeted legislation to fund the National Institute of Health and our national parks. Sick kids shouldn't suffer because Senate Democrats refuses to give up their special perks. Similarly, Hot Springs National Park should be open for tourists and local businesses, just as Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge should be open for outdoorsmen. The fate of these bills now rests in the hands of Senate Democrats. I urge them to do the right thing, pass these bills swiftly, and urge President Obama to sign them, just as he signed a unanimously passed troop-funding bill earlier this week."
