Cotton to Donate Salary to Charity During Shutdown

Statement

Date: Oct. 1, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) announced this morning that he will donate his salary to charity for each day the government remains closed:

"I regret that Senate Democrats would rather keep their special Obamacare exemption than keep the government open. Their decision will cause needless hardship for many Arkansans, including dedicated public servants. Elected leaders shouldn't be treated better than hardworking Arkansans, so I will donate my salary to charity for each day the government is closed."

During the shutdown, most of Congressman Cotton's staff will be furloughed, but his office will remain open to serve constituents. For more information about government operations over the coming days, please visit our website cotton.house.gov/shutdown
