Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) released the following statement on the government shutdown:

"Late yesterday evening, I supported legislation for the third time to fund the government and avert a government shutdown. Unfortunately, the Democratic-controlled Senate voted to shut the government down by choosing to give Members of Congress special treatment from Obamacare. I remain committed to ending this government shutdown and fighting to protect the American people from Obamacare.

"Early this morning, the House made a reasonable request to sit down and hash out our differences as quickly as possible. It's time for the Senate to join us at the negotiating table to achieve fairness for all.

"Even though the federal government is closed our staff will be here to help constituents however we can and to make sure that when the government reopens they can get help expeditiously."
