Congressman Andrews Announces Completion of $5.6M Street Upgrades in South Jersey

This week, Congressman Andrews announced the completion of a $5.6 million infrastructure project that will generate economic activity and provide safety to students, and employees in the City of Camden . The project, funded by a Transportation Investment Generating Economy Recovery (TIGER) grant from the Department of Transportation, will enhance access to downtown Camden, driving growth in the region and providing the residents of South Jersey with safe, alternative means of transportation.

The project will promote commerce throughout the region by connecting constituents with local shops and businesses through the creation of new bike lanes throughout downtown Camden and expansion of The Circuit, the region's developing trail network. Residents of South Jersey will also enjoy safer roads and paths thanks to new signage, lighting and extensive streetscape improvements Residents can also take advantage of more access to public transportation due to the expansion of bike and walking access along the Martin Luther King corridor where Walter Rand services PATCO, the RiverLine and NJ Transit bus service, the 4th busiest transportation hub in the state.

"This project is a small piece of a larger puzzle that will help promote safe travel through the City of Camden and will make doing business and working here more attractive."
