After returning to Washington earlier than scheduled to review classified material, attend classified briefings with the Administration, and participate in a House Armed Services Committee hearing this morning on the President's proposal for military action in Syria where Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, Secretary of State John Kerry, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey testified, Congressman John Kline issued the following statement on possible intervention in Syria:
"For more than two weeks, the President has failed to convey to the American people a clear objective for military intervention in Syria. He continues to offer no persuasive rationale, which is why I cannot support the President's request at this time for U.S. military strikes in Syria."
