Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) signed on as an original co-sponsor of the American Health Care Reform Act (H.R. 3121), an alternative to Obamacare that focuses on fixing the health care system without putting government between patients and doctors.
"Over the past several months, hundreds of constituents have told me about their fear of Obamacare and the impact it would have in their lives," said Rep. McKinley. "This legislation is a big step forward in fixing the problems of our broken health care system. Obamacare is a train-wreck that is increasing health care costs and interfering with the doctor patient relationship."
"House Republicans are now offering this comprehensive alternative to make health care more affordable and accessible," added McKinley. "Patient-centered reforms rooted in free markets are the best way to lower costs and solve problems in our health care system."
The American Health Care Reform Act will:
* Fully repeal President Obama's health care law, eliminating billions in taxes and thousands of pages of unworkable regulations and mandates that are driving up health care costs.
* Safeguard individuals with pre-existing conditions from being discriminated against purchasing health insurance.
* Expand access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), increasing the amount of pre-tax dollars individuals can deposit into portable savings accounts to be used for health care expenses.
* Enable small businesses to pool together and get the same buying power as large companies.
