Following the introduction of the "Keep Government Open Act" (H. Res. 333) by Congressman Steve Stockman which funds the federal government while defunding ObamaCare, House Speaker John Boehner announced Wednesday he would hold a Friday vote on a budget resolution doing just that.

"This is the policy Americans want, which is why I offered it. They want to defund ObamaCare and keep the government open. Thank you to Tom Graves and others who worked to make this happen," said Stockman.

"It is now up to Barack Obama and Senate Democrats to keep the government open. Will Democrats back a Stockman plan to keep government open, or will they further shove an unpopular failure down voters' throats?" said Stockman.

"I was serving in Congress when Bill Clinton shut down the government. That shutdown had nothing to do with Republican losses in 1996, which largely took place in heavily Democrat districts that would have swung back anyway. In fact a new Rasmussen poll shows 51 percent of likely voters would prefer a government shutdown over a continuing resolution that funds ObamaCare," said Stockman.

"Republicans should listen to the people who gave them control of the House to stop ObamaCare. If we don't stop ObamaCare, voters will find someone who will."
