Senator Menendez Reflects on September 11th, 2001

Statement

U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), New Jersey's Senior Senator and Chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, offered the following reflection 12 years after the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11th, 2001.

"Just 12 short years ago, New Jerseyans looked across the Hudson and stood witness to a tragedy that changed our lives forever. Today, once again, America remembers. We thank our first responders for their service and sacrifice, for what they did that day and in the months following to help bring closure to the families of the victims and to the nation; and for all they have done since then to keep us safe.

"We still struggle to fully understand how the events of 9-11 changed the way we live, the way we view the world, and the new threats we continue face, but most of all we remember the 3,000 people who died that day, including 700 New Jerseyans who lost their lives.

"Let us resolve never to forget them, and let us come together again as we did that day, one nation indivisible, each of us working for the betterment of all of us."
