Statement

Dear Neighbors,

Earlier this week I held a meeting with the American Cancer Society's leadership from Schaumburg. We discussed the importance of patient quality of life, support for cancer prevention, and funding for the National Institute of Health's cancer research program.

I also met again with Immigration Voice, a non-profit organization that works to combat problems faced by high-skilled and legal foreign workers in the United States. I enjoyed continuing our conversation from Glen Ellyn on ways I can assist them in Congress, and the importance of passing comprehensive immigration reform.

On the 12th anniversary of 9/11, I joined other Members of Congress in making care packages for our service men and women overseas. We must always remember those who lost their lives and sacrificed so much on that tragic day, and continue to support our Veterans and active duty service men and women. I was happy to tour Unispace today. They are an entrepreneurial think tank in Schaumburg. It was great to see so many ambitious and inspiring young people.

Lastly, it has been a challenging week in Washington as Congress discusses the crisis in Syria. You can read my thoughts on the issue here.

I hope you had a great week.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Duckworth
