Karen was proud to have supported the MA healthcare law to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for the residents of our state. In Congress, she is looking forward to supporting President Obama as the Affordable Care Act is fully implemented.

Karen will work to vigorously defend the ACA from continued attempts to repeal because she strongly believes that we cannot go back to allowing insurance companies to deny coverage on the basis of preexisting conditions or permitting them to jack up rates on people who get sick. As a mother, Karen knows what a game changer it has been for young people to be able to stay on their parent's plans, especially in this still-rocky economy. And she knows that seniors cannot afford to see their prescription drug costs go up if the law is repealed.

Karen understands how critical the ACA is for women's health and she refuses to return to letting insurance companies call the shots on women's health. The health care reform law ensures that insurance companies can't charge women higher premiums solely based on gender, and covers important preventive health care, such as mammograms, screenings for cervical cancer and other services.
