Rep. Radel Supports Legislating Eliminating Obamacare Exemptions for Members and their Staff

Statement

Date: Sept. 10, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Trey Radel (FL-19), signed onto H.R. 3066 the No Special Deal for D.C. Insiders Act, blocking Members of Congress and their staff from receiving a special exemption from participating in Obamacare. It was announced earlier this year by the Office of Personnel and Management that Members of Congress and their staff would receive health care subsidies not originally available under Obamacare. Rep. Radel had the following comments:

"Once again, the President seems content to exempt everyone but you from his signature piece of legislation. This is unacceptable. I will support any legislation ensuring Members of Congress are treated the same as you and your family under Obamacare.

"This move by the President is further proof that Obamacare is not fair to your kids, grandkids and most of all, its not fair to you. I will continue to work to repeal and replace Obamacare with a system focused on care for every American."
