Rep. Sanchez Releases Statement on Situation in Egypt

U.S. Representative Loretta Sanchez (CA-46), senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following response to President Barack Obama's statement on the situation in Egypt.

"The situation in Egypt is troubling, but it is also fluid and we must proceed with caution.

"I support President Obama's choice to halt the biennial Bright Star joint military exercise with Egypt, and until there is assurance that foreign aid would be used to help the people of Egypt, there is no reason to continue our support.

"The Egyptian military must act urgently and with transparency to return authority back to a democratically elected government.

"Above all, the violence must stop."
