Cornyn: Admin's Misplaced Priorities Impede Meal Service For Wounded Warriors At Walter Reed

Statement

Date: Aug. 15, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statement regarding reports that wounded troops recovering at Water Reed medical center have been notified their meal tickets have been invalidated and they have reduced access to the only wheelchair-accessible dining facility on the medical center campus:

"We have a serious problem of misplaced priorities when the Administration is spending nearly $700 million a year on a PR campaign to sell the President's unpopular and deeply flawed health care law, but our nation's wounded warriors are having their meal tickets turned down while in recovery at Walter Reed medical center. These men and women have sacrificed everything on our behalf; the least we can assure them is a hot meal in a wheelchair-accessible facility. I call on Sec. Hagel to reverse these unacceptable changes at Walter Reed immediately."
