The State Department Announces Plan to Allow Cubans Multiple-Entry Non-Immigrant Visitor Visas

Press Release

Date: July 31, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, the State Department issued a statement regarding a newly implemented plan to issue visas to those wanting to visit the United States from Cuba. The plan would alleviate the U.S. Interests Section's workload and create an easier process for non-immigrant visitor visa application and issuance. Cubans wanting to visit the U.S. would be able to apply for a multiple-entry Visa, valid for 60 months, for a one-time fee. For example, a Cuban grandmother wanting to come visit her newborn grandchild in the United States would be able to do so without having to undergo the visa process multiple times.

"The announcement of multiple-entry visas for Cubans is a step in the right direction that strengthens families and supports our nation's values" said Rep. Joe Garcia. "This move will lessen the financial burden on Cubans who wish to visit their loved ones and will speed up processing times at the U.S. Interests Section so that families don't have to wait months, or years, for a single visa to be approved."
