Congressman Peter King, Chairman, Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterintelligence & Terrorism, Member of Select Committee on Intelligence, Issued The Following Statement

Statement

Date: July 25, 2013

"I am delighted and proud that the House of Representatives defeated the Amash Amendment this evening. This amendment would have effectively crippled the NSA surveillance program and severely damaged American security. As someone who lost so many friends and neighbors on September 11th, I know firsthand how effective the NSA program has been in preventing subsequent terrorist massacres, such as the 2009 attempted New York City subway bombing. Passage of the Amash Amendment would have been a crushing blow for homeland security and a victory for paranoia and isolationism."
