Statement on Latest Efforts to Undermine Obamacare

Statement

Date: July 17, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-Calif.) released the following statement after voting against the latest House Republican efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act:

"If the American people needed any more proof that House Republicans have absolutely no agenda for the future, then look no further than today's votes to try and delay key provisions of the Affordable Care Act. The Republicans have made nearly 40 attempts at either repealing or undermining the Affordable Care Act even though they know this legislation will go nowhere in the Senate and would never be signed by the President.

"More than 6 months into this Congress and House Republicans have refused to name budget conferees or pass a single jobs bill to put Americans back to work. How much longer do the American people have to wait before the Republican Party wakes up and focuses on what really matters the most to the American people and that's jobs.

"The Affordable Care Act is the law of the land and no amount of political posturing from House Republicans is going to change that. It's time my colleagues across the aisle stop looking backward and begin focusing on America's future, beginning with finding common ground on a common sense approach to job creation."
