Congressman John Fleming, M.D., released the following statement in response to the June unemployment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
"It's the Obamacare great exchange; our economy is dumping full-time jobs and replacing them with part-time jobs. We saw this coming when Obamacare mandated that employers with 50 or more full-time employees must provide government-approved health insurance. In June, before the Obama Administration backtracked and postponed the Obamacare employer mandate, our economy lost 240,000 full-time jobs and gained 360,000 part-time jobs. More than 8-million Americans want full-time jobs, but are settling for part-time work, and a one-year delay of the employer mandate only prolongs economic uncertainty for business owners. If the Senate's amnesty immigration bill becomes law it will compound the problem by giving legal status to 11-million people who could be hired without employers having to count them toward the Obamacare mandate. "
"President Obama and Washington liberals seem to think they can force their will on businesses through regulations and mandates. What they ignore is that business owners still must make payroll and balance their budgets to stay in business. If the Obama Administration continues down its current path it is forcing small businesses to eliminate the full-time jobs of hardworking Americans. That's why Congress must reject that path by repealing Obamacare and rejecting the Senate amnesty bill."
