Joyce Votes for Lower Energy Prices for Ohio Families

Date: June 28, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

Today, Rep. Dave Joyce (OH-14) voted in favor of the Offshore Energy and Jobs Act, H.R. 2231, which would expand U.S. offshore energy production in order to create over a million new American jobs, lower energy prices, grow our economy and strengthen national security. Joyce stated:

"By unleashing the power of our own energy resources, we can inject $1.5 billion into our economy, create over a million new jobs, and lower energy costs for Ohio families. It's time we reduce our dependence on foreign oil and jump start our own economy right here at home."

H.R. 2231 proposes a drill-smart, job-creation plan that would require the Administration to move forward with new offshore energy production in areas containing the most oil and natural gas resources -- including the Atlantic Coast and Pacific Coast. It also requires the Secretary of the Interior to conduct oil and natural gas lease sales that have been delayed or cancelled by the Obama Administration and implements a fair, equitable revenue sharing program for all coastal states. The bill passed by a vote of 235-186.
