New Energy Proposals Could Devastating for WI Forestry and Paper

Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) released this statement following President Obama's remarks today on energy policy. The President discussed a number of proposals, such as new EPA rules, that will affect the United States energy sector.

"I was disappointed to hear the President propose more costly regulations on our economy," said Ribble. "These proposals could have a devastating impact on Wisconsin's forestry and paper industries, which have already been struggling in the current economy. Our country's energy sector is one of the few remaining areas where we have an international competitive advantage but the President's agenda could bring that to an end. These new proposals could raise costs and jeopardize jobs and I will work to make sure our government doesn't irreparably harm Wisconsin's manufacturing sector."
