Griffin Joins American Motorcyclist Association Rally in Support of E15 Testing

Press Release

Date: June 20, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02), Co-Chair of the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, issued the following statement after speaking at the American Motorcyclist Association's E15 Fuel for Thought rally on the National Mall:

"It was great to take part in this rally with fellow riders and enthusiasts from around the country, and to speak with them about the impact of fuel standards and ethanol on our sport. The fact is, no manufacturer has approved E15 fuel for use in motorcycles or ATVs, and more research is needed on the potential damage it can cause engines. I'm thankful for the AMA's work to bring awareness to this issue."

Griffin is a cosponsor of H.R. 875, which would require the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to seek independent scientific analysis on the effects of E15 gasoline. He has also cosponsored H.R. 1461, the RFS Elimination Act and H.R. 1462, the RFS Reform Act. H.R. 1461 would repeal the EPA's renewable fuel program to ensure that ethanol must compete in a free market. H.R. 1462 would eliminate the corn-based ethanol requirements of the RFS and would cap the amount of ethanol that can be blended into conventional gasoline at ten percent.

E15 is a type of gasoline that contains up to 15 percent ethanol.
