Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) released the following statement in announcing his digital media push in honor of our Founding Fathers in the lead up to Fathers' Day:
"With Father's Day around the corner, it got me thinking about the guidance dads provide, and in light of the recent news from Washington -- from the NSA's objectionable collection of phone records to the IRS's targeting of individuals based on religious and political beliefs -- I was reminded of the wisdom of our Founding Fathers. Their words are as relevant today as they were two centuries ago. As Americans, we should celebrate "Founding Fathers' Day' and never forget them."
Griffin is pushing important quotes from various leaders of the American Revolution on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. These quotes are particularly timely, given the recent debate on what is the appropriate balance between liberty and security. Using the hash tag #FoundingFathersDay, Griffin offers the Founders' words to showcase the concerns they had about an overly-powerful federal government.
Griffin has been an outspoken critic of the federal government seizing the phone records of millions of innocent Americans.
