Issues: Oil and Gas

U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today helped pass legislation to bypass the Obama administration's delays and approve the Keystone XL pipeline, a project that will help create jobs in Indiana and across the U.S. He issued the following statement after voting for the bill, which passed the House on a bipartisan vote of 241-175:

"The Keystone XL permit application has been under consideration by the Obama administration for more than 1,700 days, and it's time to finally move forward with this important job-creating project. By clearing away red tape and getting the federal government out of the way, we are unleashing an abundant energy supply and creating thousands of new jobs.

"There are numerous Hoosier businesses that will directly benefit from Keystone, including equipment suppliers like Caterpillar in Lafayette. And of course, Indiana's role as the Crossroads of America will only be enhanced by the development of another source of accessible, affordable energy. This is a win-win for Hoosier jobs and for the U.S. economy," said Rokita.
