U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement today, regarding the Smarter Solutions for Students Act and calling for an end to the federal government's manipulative policies in the student loan market:
"While I thank my colleagues for taking a positive step in the right direction, I voted against today's legislation because it isn't the long-term solution our students deserve. As they enter a dreadful job market carrying massive debt, young graduates feel yet another consequence of Washington's top-down controls that are driving up the cost of education. It's time to tackle soaring tuition costs with the market-driven reforms our kids deserve."
Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana and serves on the House Committee on Financial Services. Indiana's 3rd District contains all of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Jay, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties, as well as parts of Blackford and Kosciusko counties.
