LaMalfa Supports Keystone Pipeline Bill

Press Release

Date: May 16, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Oil and Gas

Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today supported a measure authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry petroleum from Canada and the Northern United States as far South as Texas. The bill, HR 3, was passed by the Natural Resources Committee and will now be considered on the House floor. The bill's passage comes on the heels of a State Department report finding that the project will have no major environmental impacts.

"Ensuring that the United States has access to North American energy supplies is key to strengthening and growing our economy," said LaMalfa. "The thousands of construction and supply chain jobs this project creates will augment the already booming energy industry in the Dakotas and Montana, where one of the main problems is getting the oil to market. I believe that our country should take an all-of-the-above approach to energy, and petroleum will be a major part of that picture for decades to come."

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
