Marino Responds to Rice Appointment as National Security Advisor

Statement

U.S. Representative Tom Marino (R-PA) released the following statement in response to President Obama naming U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice as his National Security Advisor:

"Unfortunately, it comes as no surprise that President Obama would promote an official at the center of an ongoing scandal to a role absolutely critical in securing our nation's safety.

"It is no coincidence that Ambassador Rice's new position is not subject to Senate confirmation -- her gross mischaracterization of the terrorist attack that took the lives of four Americans at our consulate in Benghazi last September was a botched political attempt to deceive the public and direct attention away from yet another one of this Administration's failures.

"I completely disagree with the President's appointment of an individual so willing to ignore facts and logic at a time when our country faces critical foreign policy and national security decisions in countries like Syria, Afghanistan and Iran."
