According to the Ohio Christian Alliance, Congressman Bill Johnson reintroduced what is known as the D-Day Landing Prayer Act in the House of Representatives in honor of U.S. veterans both past and present.

The Prayer Act encompasses the prayer of former President Roosevelt, "Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity…"

Congressman Johnson is seeking for the inscription of Roosevelt's prayer on the World War II Memorial.

"The bill asks my fellow Statesmen to place a plaque inscribed with this prayer on the official World War II Memorial, here in Washington. Today, I am reintroducing this legislation, and this time we cannot allow it to end up on the Senate's cutting room floor. FDR is an important part of our nation's history, and it deserves its rightful place in our memoriam," Johnson said.

According to the Ohio Christian Alliance, Johnson first introduced the bill during the 112th Congress and it was passed by the House. Consequently, the legislation was not voted up by the Senate and it expired.

The reintroduction of the bill will allow it to be placed on the desk of Harry Reid, Senate Leader.

Chris Long, President of the Ohio Christian Alliance, said the Alliance is delighted about the re-introduction of the bill.

"We are pleased that members of Congress are as committed as we are to seeing the inclusion of this prayer, honoring those brave men and women who served us in WWII, become a permanent addition to the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.," Long said.

Long, who has served as the Alliance President since 2002, said it is a non-profit organization which seeks to shed light on, and lobby for pro-life, and pro-family legislation.
