Governor Pat Quinn today released a statement regarding the Illinois Senate's passage of House Bill 1189 to require the reporting of lost or stolen firearms. The proposal was part of the Governor's public safety agenda in his 2013 State of the State address.

"I commend the General Assembly for taking this step today to address the threat of gun violence in Illinois.

"Requiring gun owners to report lost or stolen firearms will improve public safety throughout Illinois, and I look forward to signing this bill."
