Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has released the following statement in response to the announcement by the Vietnamese Ambassador to the U.S. that his government has removed the ban on imports of U.S. offal -- byproducts of livestock:
"I was very pleased to hear Ambassador Cuong's announcement that Vietnam will be lifting its ban on white offal. This good faith effort proves Vietnam's willingness to cooperate with me and the agricultural leaders in the U.S. to remove barriers that are limiting bilateral trade. This ban has been hurting livestock producers in Missouri, and I am happy to see it lifted. I look forward to continuing to work with Ambassador Cuong and the Vietnamese to remove tariff and non-tariff trade barriers between the two countries as we finalize the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement."
Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Cuong made the announcement at a University of Missouri-Columbia commodity roundtable.
