U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes today released the following statement after South Korean President Park Geun-hye addressed a joint session of Congress:

"In her first address to Congress, President Park affirmed the strong and enduring relationship the United States has with South Korea and the shared vision we have for the future. As we mark the 60th anniversary of the alliance between our two countries, it is a time to reflect on the tremendous determination of the Korean people and the unbelievable strides they've made to become one of world's strongest economies.

"We see every day the remarkable contributions Korean-Americans make here in America. They share with us the traditions of their homeland, making us stronger as a multicultural society, and inspire us with their incredible work ethic. As we embark upon the next 60 years of our relationship with South Korea, I know the friendship and collaboration between our nations will only continue to grow."
