U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, issued the following statement regarding the SEC Regulatory Accountability Act:
"Unelected bureaucrats must be held accountable. Unfortunately, the SEC worked to pass rules without performing a cost-benefit analysis and failed to respond to problems raised by taxpayers. That's hardly a profile in responsible government.
"Hoosiers know that red tape is a job killer and, while regulations have an important role, it's imperative that the costs of Washington rules don't outweigh the benefits. The legislation we passed today holds the SEC accountable by making sure that rules are properly reviewed and I commend the House for passing this common sense legislation."
