Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss) released the following statement in response to the Food and Drug Administration'sapproval of a new rule allowing Plan B and its generic competitors to be sold over the counter to people as young as 15 years old:
"The FDA ruling shows utter contempt for the role of parents in their children's lives and recklessness with regards to the health of young women. The idea that a 15 year old can get Plan B more easily than a tattoo, ear piercing, or aspirin from a school nurse flies in the face of basic common sense. Parents and medical professionals should not be cut out of the decision making process on such a serious issue."
