Graves Statement on Passage of Legislation to Help End FAA Furlough Situation

Statement

Date: April 26, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Transportation

U.S. Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06), a member of the House Aviation Subcommittee, released the following statement after today's vote by the House of Representatives to address the furloughs of air traffic controllers by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA):

"Today's vote will help Americans once again fly the friendly skies without fear of needless and unwarranted flight delays due to a reckless and overly political administration in Washington. With this legislation, the FAA no longer has any excuses, and can no longer hide behind scare tactics and political posturing. While I believe the FAA already had the flexibility and capacity to make different choices regarding sequestration prior to passage of this bill, it is now clearly incumbent upon the Transportation Department to address these furloughs and stop playing politics with air travel."
