"As hurricane season approaches, it is imperative for those of us in South Louisiana to prepare for potential storms, high winds, flooding and storm surge. There is much we can do to prepare for these instances, keeping our families and our homes safe from harm.

"I am pleased to announce a Hurricane Season Public Forum this year with experts from the National Weather Service (NWS), National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies (NIMSAT), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA). The Forum will help families in South Louisiana recognize potential threats associated with hurricane season and how to safely prepare for them. Even if you cannot attend on April 22, I encourage everyone in our area to research their risks are and prepare accordingly."
