Scalise commends Chairman Camp, Ways and Means Committee, for approving Full Faith and Credit Act

Location: Washington, DC

Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement after H.R. 807, the Full Faith and Credit Act, was passed out of the Ways and Means Committee.

"The Full Faith and Credit Act ensures that negotiations on the debt ceiling are not derailed by President Obama's continued threat of default," Scalise said. "Hitting the debt ceiling is a symptom of Washington's spending problem, and it's vital that we not only guarantee the full faith and credit of the United States today, but that we solve the underlying problem to prevent Washington from hitting the nation's borrowing limit again. The Full Faith and Credit Act will help our economy by removing another layer of uncertainty that is hurting families, small businesses, and America's credit rating. I applaud Congressman McClintock's leadership on this issue and Chairman Camp and the Ways and Means Committee for quickly approving this needed legislation. I look forward to a floor vote on the measure in the near future."

Scalise is an original cosponsor of the Full Faith and Credit Act and pressed House leadership to make this legislation a priority.
