EWP Funding Headed to President's Desk

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Much needed Emergency Watershed Protection funding is one step closer to helping Colorado mitigate the damage caused by last summer's wildfires. Congressman Cory Gardner (CO-04) played a key role in securing the funding, and today he is excited to announce that the funding -- part of a larger bill to keep government running -- is headed to President Obama's desk for his signature.

"For nearly a year, Colorado communities have been waiting for the funds to rebuild and reinforce vital watershed infrastructure," Gardner said. "Now, we won't have to worry that every time it rains our rivers and reservoirs are being polluted by debris runoff from last summer's fires."

The EWP funding was part of a larger bill that will keep government funded through September. It passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. Earlier this year, Gardner, along with Rep. Jared Polis (CO-02), lobbied the chair of the powerful Appropriations Committee to find money for the EWP program.
