U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) released the following statement marking Israel's Independence Day, Yom Ha'atzmaut:

"I am delighted to wish Israelis and Jews around the world a hearty "Mazel tov' on Israel's 65th anniversary of independence. For six and a half decades, our two nations have shared bonds of friendship and partnership between our governments, leaders, and people based on mutual values, priorities, and hopes.

"I was so proud to join President Obama in Israel last month as he represented the strong and unwavering relationship between our two nations. As a Member of Congress, I am proud to bring my love of Israel to work every day, and will always use my voice, my vote, and my position on the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations subcommittee to support and strengthen our important ally.

"Yesterday, Israelis commemorated those they have lost during Yom Hazikaron, Memorial Day, which ends on Independence Day in the tradition of a people's eternal optimism. Today, as every day, I am proud of Israel's spirit of hope and recovery that has inspired the world. Mazel tov on your Independence Day, and may you continue to go from strength to strength."
