Congressman Kurt Schrader today released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 624, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA):
"Our nation's public and private networks are under attack on an almost daily basis by enemies at home and abroad," Schrader said. "Without an appropriate cyber defense system our networks remain vulnerable to further attacks. The federal government has an obligation to combat these attacks, prevent future threats and protect the security of the American people. While I have some reservations within the bill, it is in the best interest of us all to move this legislation forward and allow House and Senate leaders to work out a structured defense system that designates civilian control and safeguards the privacy and civil liberties of all Americans."
