Gov. Jay Nixon today signed House Bill 14, the Supplemental Budget for Fiscal Year 2013, which ends June 30, 2013. The budget bill signed by the Governor will provide more than $40 million to give school districts more resources, including funding to reimburse schools for the costs for high-needs students, school district trust funds, and federal dollars for food programs.

"Here in Missouri, public education is a value and this supplemental budget ensures that we will continue to support the needs of all students in our public schools," Gov. Nixon said. "I appreciate the work of the General Assembly to get this bill to my desk, and look forward to continuing to work with them to maintain our fiscal discipline and invest in our children's future."

In addition to education, House Bill 14 also provides additional federal dollars to assist with a home- and community-based services program that provides services to eligible individuals who wish to remain in a community setting; additional funding for local public health services; and resources to fully fund placement and treatment services for children in the state's care and custody.
