Fish and Wildlife Service Agrees to Meet with Local Officials on Central Texas Salamanders

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) today announced that, at his request, Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe has agreed to meet with local stakeholders in Williamson County to discuss the Central Texas salamanders ahead of the endangered species listing decision that is due by September.

"I'm appreciative of Director Ashe's willingness to work with local stakeholders and to discuss these challenges directly with Williamson County officials.
"I believe this trip will be a good opportunity for the Fish & Wildlife Service to see firsthand the success that existing strong conservation efforts have had in ensuring that Williamson County continues to thrive environmentally and economically."
