Capito: In the Midst of Flagging Economy, Americans Have Stopped Looking for Jobs

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV-02) released the following statement in response to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' March 2013 unemployment report:

"The newest numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics spell trouble for our nation's flagging economy. Not only did hundreds of thousands of Americans flee the workforce last month but our nation's economy added a mere 88,000 jobs. Even worse, unemployment claims increased for the third consecutive time last week.

"Today's report is a clear sign that the president's economic policies aren't working. His stimulus spending plan failed to create the jobs that were promised and destructive regulations are standing in the way of job growth. And sadly, the president's anti-energy policies are preventing energy-rich states like West Virginia from creating jobs. I am committed to enacting pro-growth solutions because Americans deserve better."
