Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to pass legislation (H.R. 1120) that would effectively shut down the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and hurt working-class families:

"If you work hard and play by the rules, the American Dream should be within your reach -- that is our national ethos. Unfortunately, House Republicans have put forward legislation to undermine those rules by attacking fundamental protections that ensure better wages and working conditions for American workers. Congress should be fighting every day to strengthen the middle class, not weaken it. So let's work together on common sense bipartisan proposals to reignite the American economy, create good paying jobs and put our country back on track."
