McMorris Rodgers: More Spending and More Tax Hikes Won't Help Everyday Americans

Statement

House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after President Obama released his FY2014 budget:

"Today -- after awaiting the release of President Obama's budget for over two months -- we find ourselves disappointed by the ineffective solutions he has proposed for the American people. His budget will never achieve balance and it raises taxes by more than $1 trillion. A budget filled with more spending and more tax hikes will do nothing to make life easier for everyday Americans. It hasn't worked before and it won't work now.

"House Republicans passed a budget that balances in ten years so that we can foster a healthier economy and preserve programs for seniors and the most vulnerable. Our budget will help college graduates find jobs, ensure that moms and dads can pay their bills, and give seniors the certainty they deserve when it comes to receiving their benefits. The budget the President unveiled today does the opposite: it raises taxes, stifles new jobs, and hurts hardworking Americans all across this country. We have passed a budget that puts people first -- and we invite the President to do the same."
