U.S. Representative Candice Miller (MI-10) today issued the following statement in response to President Obama's FY2014 budget proposal:
"The budget proposal submitted by President Obama one year ago took clear aim at the Air National Guard and called for the elimination of the 107th Fighter Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base and the loss of hundreds of jobs. After President Obama submitted his budget to Congress, I was proud to join with the brave men and women who serve at the base, the leaders of the Michigan National Guard and members of our community to oppose those cuts and to organize my colleagues in the Congress to stop them from happening. By working together we won that battle in Congress and protected the Air National Guard. Since that time we have vigilantly been preparing to fight that fight again this year. President Obama submitted his budget to Congress this week and because of the bipartisan strength we showed last year in turning back efforts to find budget savings by decimating the National Guard, this year he didn't even try. We will continue to stand with our National Guard. What a difference a year makes."
