U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today issued the following remarks after the president released his fiscal year 2014 budget request:
"With the release of the president's budget request, it is evident the battle for fiscal sanity must continue. While House Republicans passed a balanced approach that targets Washington's wasteful spending habit and the biggest drivers of the nation's debt, President Obama's overdue plan demands higher taxes, greater spending and bigger government. Not to mention, his budget will never balance, making it hard to wonder why it was released two months late.
"There is still much more work that needs to be done in order to make our government solvent and improve the health of the U.S. economy. We must work together in areas of agreement, so that we honor our commitments to Americans today and for generations to come. We can accomplish this without further pilfering the taxpayer pocket. Rather than staying on the current reckless course, fueled by money we don't have, Congress must prioritize. The American people and businesses do this every day and so should the federal government."
