Bachmann Votes to Balance the Budget, Create Jobs, and Grow the Economy

Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) released the following statement after voting for the House Republican Budget Resolution that would balance the budget in ten years.

"Our children and grandchildren deserve better than 7.7 percent unemployment and a $16.7 trillion national debt, and we cannot afford to continue down this path. That's why we need a balanced budget that will foster much-needed economic growth and job creation. A balanced budget will preserve and protect the American Dream for all Americans. If families and small businesses across the country are balancing their budgets, government should do the same.

"In contrast, President Obama and Senate Democrats are not interested in ever bringing the budget into balance. Their plan will continue government's out-of-control spending and continue crushing future generations with massive debt. The Senate Democrats' budget also piles on another $1.5 trillion to the already overbearing tax burden on American families. That means fewer jobs and less money in people's pocketbooks to pay for gas and groceries. With the economy still struggling, American families need real solutions, not higher taxes and more spending as far as the eye can see.

"I'm trying to find a budget that will help people in Minnesota, and out of these two plans, the choice is clear: The House Republican plan is the only one that will balance the budget, create jobs, grow the economy, and offer more opportunity."
