Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended a briefing at Bowie State University on the Education Innovation Initiative (EI2), a joint science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) initiative between the Maryland Center at Bowie State University and Lockheed Martin.
"In order to strengthen our nation's competitiveness and ensure our students can succeed, we must make investments in STEM education a priority," stated Congressman Hoyer. "The EI2 Initiative will help us build a highly-competitive workforce here in Maryland, and ensure our students are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow. I thank Bowie State and Lockheed Martin for their commitment to developing a STEM initiative in our community, and look forward to working with them to strengthen STEM education opportunities for Maryland students."
"We thank Congressman Hoyer for joining us today to discuss this important initiative between the Maryland Center and Lockheed Martin. This partnership is critical to training the next generation of career-ready students here in Maryland," stated Terry Lawlah, Executive Director of the Maryland Center.
EI2 is a PreK-20 STEM enrichment program that provides under-represented students in Prince George's County with insight into career paths in the STEM fields, increased access to STEM project-based learning, and equitable access to all STEM learning resources.
