Cassidy, Barrow Stand Up For Medicare Advantage

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressmen Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and John Barrow (D-GA) sent [a] letter to the Acting Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In the letter, signed by 95 Members of Congress, Cassidy and Barrow urged CMS to reconsider new cuts that will harm seniors who need Medicare Advantage.

"Seniors on Medicare Advantage got hit hard by Obamacare. Now, CMS is proposing deep new payment cuts that will make things even tougher for our parents and grandparents. CMS is proposing $50 to $90 a month in cuts on the 194,000 Louisiana seniors on Medicare Advantage. This means our seniors will pay more, get less and lose choices. I am heartened that so many of my colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, are standing up to CMS and fighting cuts to Medicare Advantage," said Congressman Cassidy M.D.

Congressman Barrow said, "The deep cuts to Medicare Advantage imposed by the Affordable Care Act will leave folks with less money every month. Add to that these proposed, unnecessary cuts from CMS, and many seniors will find that they can't afford basic necessities. We have an obligation to look out for our senior citizens, and to let these cuts take effect would be irresponsible when the solution is very simple."
